We added additional hard disk to our Navision server but after restoring our SQL database only one user access was allowed, We have 30 licenses for this. When I checked the session it display many sessions for SA access even no one is using it. We tried detaching and attaching our database but still it only allows one user in Nav.
Then I decided to uninstall the SQL server and reinstall it. But during installation it prompts for an instance and when we select the existing instance it says I cannot use an existing instance. But when we try to create new instance and try viewing in our SQL console, we can't see it.
What we can do to resolve this? We are using Navision ver 2009 with Standard SQL 2012.

Hi,
Are you referring for Role Tailored Client Or Classic Client?
Is there any error message, if yes please share same...
hi we are able to install the sql now. But Nav 2009 cannot connect to it?
We define already the database name and server name in Nav. What we will do now?
Do you get an error message?
If yes what is that.
We're able to declare the instance during the first SQL installation. But I have uninstalled SQL again because the instance (although created) can't be seen in SQL console. Then I decided to reinstall SQL again.. But this time it doesn't complete the installation process. It stopped at "Setup files" phase.
Then How can are getting existing Instance Name?
yes we un-installed using DVD before reinstalling.
But the installation stops when it reach "setup files" phase.
Hey Joel,
How you un-installed SQL?
You Need to un-install SQL from the SQL Product DVD to completely un-install SQL.
No Navision or SQL lock the system.
Hi, I have already uninstalled SQL then reinstall. During re-installation it stops before asking SQL Instance. We tried reinstalling many time but it always stops. Does Navision or SQL locks the system?
Hi,
1. Only one user can access Navision database -
> From SQL Server Go to Database Properties, under Options Check the Value of Last Property "Restrict Access". It should be set to MULTI_USER.
OR
> From Navision, Open Database and Navigate to File -> Database -> Alter, Option (Tab). Check Value of Single User Boolean. It should be set to NO.
2. Show SQL Instance -
Considering you have installed a Instance Name Test.
Open SQL Server Management Studio, Suppose The Server Name is ABC. So to access your instance you need to replace ABC with ABC\Test.
