Can we restrict the postings to certain financial dimensions based on users groups? We have some ledger accounts that no one should be utilizing (other than accounting) and I can't find a way to prevent other users from choosing those accounts (on a purchase order, for example). Additionally, we have some financial dimensions that should not be used on a purchase order by certain users - can we restrict usage of a business unit and site based on a user group? We have done training of course but with job role changes etc, I'd prefer a system solution blocking the usage.

Hi,

In the main account form there is a setup option that allows you restricting the use of an account by user.

Have you checked this functionality already?

I don't see any restrict options under account setup - can you tell me how to navigate to the screen you're referring to?

Also, this would work for *some* accounts. Others need to be restricted based on financial dimensions - for example, users at location A should be able to choose factory supplies main account with site A, while users at location B should be able to choose factory supplies at site B - but I'd like to restrict them from accidentally choosing the wrong location.

These users would be creating requisitions or purchase orders mostly which would lead to "system generated" postings when items are received/invoiced (payables). Also the free-text invoices (receivables) require a user to select a main account and dimensions (not driven by item type as most other invoices are). We keep separate financials based on the location info - so posting to the wrong location creates an entry on the wrong set of books.

Hi

Do you mainly care about the ledger posting or the restriction to create certain transactions? From your last comment I would expect that you primarily look for preventing users from creating purchase requisitions, purchase orders, etc.

This can be achieved with the help of XDS.

I don't want to stop them from creating a requisition or purchase order - I just want to restrict the main accounts and/or financial dimensions available to them when they create the req's and po's. Do you have a link to Andre's blog?

Just realized you were referring to the Andre who also replied - followed his link to "my blog" - I will ask our IT dept about restricting by retail channel (that's a bit beyond my technical expertise and access - I can only do accounting dept level setups/restrictions to the ledger accounts and financial dimensions

Update - we've determined that for our purposes, it may be easier to break this business unit into a separate legal entity and block access that way. Thanks.
