I'd like to allow users to see only some of the users in the organization. for example only those in their team or business unit.
Is it possible?

Hi,
This is really imprtant but unfortunately Microsoft Dynamics CRM don't allow this. As system admin user ony can see the security navigation where the user resides.
And also Business unit basically decide the entity level access based on user access not user entity access.
So we can't give the user list permission OOB way.

yes you can achieve it with the security roles. You give them only read/write for team/BU level and not oragnization level: crmbook.powerobjects.com/.../security-roles
