[WHS] standard procedure to change inventory status

Hi everyone,

can someone tell what is the standard procedure to change the inventory status for on hand?

Is there another way than the "old" inventory blocking in "Inventory management".

Hi Nils,

From within the AX client, you have the Periodic -> 'Inventory status change' and 'Warehouse status change' to investigate.

On the mobile device, a Menu item of Mode 'Work' with a Work creation process of 'Movement' would seem to do the job.

Hi Guy,

thanks a lot. Now i have an idea of what code to debug or customize. I'm trying to automate status change when inventory is placed in a special location. The reason is that we want some locations within the warehouse to be automatically excluded from reservation (also glabal reservation).

I have a similar requirement: items are received on POs with a status that makes them unavailable, and get the available status when they are put away. Since I am integrating to voice, I have to option to automate the status change. I am thinking of hi-jacking the 'Movement by template'; not only can I get AX to determine the put away location, it also asks if you want to change the status:

Hi,

can you tell me how this Movement-by-template-thing works? I have the same screen as shown in your screenshot but how could it work out without any dimensions? If i try to work with this form the system fails when looking for available inventory.

By the way:

I tried to call the framework-method WHSWorkCreateMovementBasic.createBasicMovementWork(...) with different status but this confuses the system very much.

Hi Nils,

Not sure what you mean 'how could it work without any dimensions'?

In the Contoso data, company USMF, there is a Location Directive of type Inventory movement called '51 Move'. The query on the Location Direcive Action is looking for locations with a Location Profile ID of 'Floor-05'. There is also a relevant Work template called '51 Movement'.

I created a Mobile device menu item with Mode 'Work' and set 'Movement by template' as the Work creation process.

In Warehouse 51, there is an item M9200 in location BULK-001, on Licence Plate LP92001. In the handheld, I enter only the LP and hit enter. The screen updates with the 'From' Location, Item Id and Quantity. I also appear to be able to change the 'To' Inventory status if I want. I just hit OK.

The screen tells me to Pick my Item / Location / LP. I hit OK. The screen tells me to Put it in Location LP-001, which presumably is the first one it found with the Location Profile 'Floor-05'. I hit OK, and the item is moved.

Hi Guy,

thanks for reply. It seems that the Handheld-"Simulation" via AX-Forms is a little strange. If i leave some fields empty in the first step AX will display another form where i can continue specifying additional data such as dimensions and so on. Finally it worked.

Is there something similar for transfer order? I need to change invetory status always to blocked when I receive transfer order by mobile device if I TO started from a specific site/warehouse

Here what I tried to use:

Setup up

I want to move item from warehouse “A” to warehouse “B”; when I place item to warehouse “B” I want to change inventory status always to “BLOCKED”

Inventory status it’s just a proposal, but I can change it, I don’t want to allow it.

Is it possible out of the box?
