Inactive Item allows for negative adjustments?

Hello All,

We are currently running MS GP 2018R2 and I noticed that inventory Items marked as inactive will still allow for adjustments as long as they are negative. From my understanding of the inactive flag, it should be blocking all transactions, transfers, etc. Is this a change in functionality? It seems to be behaving like "discontinued" instead of inactive.

example: If I try to add 100 of item A, and its marked inactive, it will not allow me to enter 100 in the quantity field. But if I enter -100, it will allow me to remove it.

Hi Josh,

With Inactive items you can still do a few transactions.

You can enter new transactions with inactive items for the following:

Returns (sales and vendor)

Inventory transfers between sites and bins

Increase and decrease variances

Stock counts

Decrease adjustments

So that would explain why you are seeing what you are seeing. Hope this helps!
