Hello.
We are currently on GP 2018 on-prem.
We are in the process of setting up audit trailing within GP and I had a question around the management of this audit trail data once enabled.
Is it as simple as archiving or purging data from DYNAMICS..SY05000 table at regular intervals? I understand there is a "remove audit trail" window in GP but I was looking at automating this log management from the back-end. Or are there a set of jobs/processes provided by MS to archive/purge this data.
Additionally, roughly how often would this archiving need to happen to prevent any impact on the performance of GP - I know this is a difficult question to answer without other details but looking for a ballpark figure - how big would this table need to get to start having performance issues.
TIA
Hi KuP,
Dynamics GP 2018 doesn't have anymore a built-in "Audit Trail" module, as it used to be provided back until GP 10.0 I believe..
If you're referring to the "Activity" tracking within GP, then yes the SY05000 table is the one collecting the data and yes it can be cleaned up with a basic SQL job based on the date entries in the table.. This is less cumbersome than having to remove the entries from the GP front-end.
Keep in mind that the "Activity" tracking in GP is far as from considered an Auditing tool from auditors, as it offers only minimal data collection. For something better you should look at Rockton Auditor or FastPath Audit Trail.
Hello Kup,
I apologize you did not receive a reply on this thread. If you are referring to the 'Audit Trail' module that we used to support in GP, you would have to go back to Merit Solutions for assistance with their product. Support went back to them after GP 2010
Thanks
