Hi guys,

I have querry with fixed asset depreciation.

I created a value model of Curr_FA where depreciation check box is ticked. Now i created a fixed asset and attached this value model in it. So the fixed asset--> value model, it shows me a line for this value model with depreciation box as checked("Yes"). Now, acquisition entry is been passed and depreciation for year 1 is also passed.  Now i need to pass depreciation for year2. However, now when i see the fixed asset--> value model, it shows me a line for this value model but with depreciation box as Unchecked("No").However, GL--> Set Up-->value Model still has depreciation box as checked.

The user says mistakenly this check box at fixed asset level got unticked by him.

Now when i try to pass depreciation for yr2, it gives me error "Fixed Asset XX, Value Model XX has not been set up for depreciation"

Kindly help. How do i tick this check box at fixed asset level.

    Hi Monahb,

The fixed asset value model that you see in the setup section only serves as default value model once you setup a new fixed asset.

After your fixed asset is setup and linked to the value model, changes that are made to your value model in the setup section do not have an influence on your fixed asset anymore.

If a user unchecked the depreciation checkbox by accident just open the fixed asset and its related value model and set the checkbox again. This should ensure that depreciation is calculated also for the second year.

    Hope this helps,

    Ludwig

    Hi Ludwig,

I tried to set the check box again at the fixed asset level multiple times. However, somehow the system is not able to allowing me to tick it again. I even tried it from the backend and multiple other ways, all were not helpful. Finally i came up with another solution through splitting the fixed asset.

I splitted the current fixed asset and created a new one against this at the same WDV value. SO now Fixed Asset1 is closed and nullified and New Fixed asset2 is been created with same WDV. This FA2 allowed me to pass the depre for subsequent years.

    The issue was resolved.

    Thanks for the help Ludwig

And yes. The info that you gave that the value model set up is default set up and any changes made at this set up level has no effect on fixed asset value models already set was a helpful information for me.It gave me different view to look at the issue. Thanks fr that.
