We are on GP 18.3.1173 (2020) and I'm trying to figure out how to copy/paste an AP transaction from Excel. However, the Paste button on the Payables Transaction Entry window is greyed out. I've seen some posts where it says to have your Excel file open and the data copied before creating the AP transaction and others that say you have to be on the Purchases field to paste but no combination of these things works for me. My Excel file is formatted like this:
When I open the Payables Transaction Entry window the paste button is greyed out (as expected) but when I enter a vendor ID and then tab to the Purchases amount field the Paste button is still greyed out. I've confirmed my security is pointing to the out of the box GP window (no third parties seem to be interfering). The Paste button is also greyed out on the Distributions window. I'm logged in as 'sa' and confirmed I have Poweruser role. Help! Thanks very much.
Thanks for the reply Isaac.
I had tried the different command displays thinking it may be the menu bar choices.
It was a third party.... specifically Nolan muti entity that gave an alternate distribution window that lacked the paste button. They do not change the main ap window so i still had it there.
Hello,
I have not seen this scenario specifically. As soon as you tab off after entering your Vendor ID, if you click the Distributions button, Paste should be available. The only difference that I am seeing is that your windows are using the older Menu Bar. Could you test changing your (Microsoft Dynamics GP >> User Preferences) to use the 'Action Pane' instead, then close and reopen GP and see if the Distributions Paste button is now available after entering a Vendor ID?
It also wouldn't hurt to just doublecheck alternate/modified forms and reports security just to verify that GP is not pointing to a modified or 3rd Party window.
I hope this helps, if not we may need to look into this deeper through a support case since I have not seen this personally before. Unless someone else in the community has.
Thanks!

Hi Isaac
I have the excel paste button on the main transaction entry window, but i do not have it on the distribution window. What steps do i follow to trigger the excel button on distributions?
Thank you Isaac...that was it. I appreciate the quick response.
It looks like you are not marked as registered for Multicurrency. All new features and pre-release testing for Microsoft Dynamics GP since GP 2013 is only done on Multicurrency installs. Not having MC installed is required to use this feature.
In the Tips section of the new feature it also states the following:
If you do not have multi currency (MC) enabled (Tools | Setup | System | Registration) the Paste option is unavailable.
(+) Microsoft Dynamics GP Fall 2020 - Copy and Paste Purchasing Transactions and Distributions - Microsoft Dynamics GP Community
Even if you do not use Multicurrency to its fullest functionality, I would recommend exploring enabling it after reviewing the following post.
Multicurrency Management: Should I enable it? - Microsoft Dynamics GP Community
I hope this helps!
