Disallow duplicate bar code

Hi,

is there a way to disallow using duplicate barcodes? Currently the system is allowing using the same barcode for two different SKUs and there is no way to detect this duplicate.

Hi Georgek,

It can be prevented using a customization. In the past, I had seen a scenario where actually multiple items were created for the same SKU. But usually, I do agree, it could be unique.

The 'Scanning' tick-box / slider will cause AX to validate that the bar code you are creating is not already assigned to another item:

Hi GeorgeK,

I have reviewed the logic. There is no setting in the system to enable this by default. You can consider a small extension to set this value. Using the Excel add-in, you can also try to do a mass update.
