To kick off the year I have some Business Central and Power BI licensing questions that we are trying to tie down but just not finding a concrete answer to.
The base question is when does a Business Central User (Essential, Premium or Team Member) need to purchase a Power BI Pro license or when will the free license suffice.
From BC License Guide:
Dynamics 365 Business Central application subscriptions include an option to embed Power BI content as a product feature but require users to subscribe to Power BI (free user or Power BI Pro depending on content) separately to configure access to this content.
Assume 'Depending on content' refers to if the published report/dashboard is showing BC only data or other non-BC data. So only focusing on purely if BC data only.
Scenario:
- Super User has Power BI Pro license and publishes some new dashboards (Based on Business Central Data only) for Business Central and embeds them into Business Central
For another BC user to see these dashboards will the Power BI free license suffice or do they need to have the Pro license to see these dashboard/reports?
I mean that you cannot share reports inside your organization with teams or co-workers. You can create a new report but not share it.
Thanks Stefano. Understand sharing of reports but what do you mean by collaborating on a report?
To only see reports published by other, a free version is enough. With the free version you cannot collaborate on reports and you cannot share reports with co-workers.
