Reassign records and show previous owner

Hi Community,

I have a task to change owner for customers from one user to another. I can do it through  settings >User > Reassign records.

Another requirement after assigning is to show the previous owner as a note or any other way like Flag the customer that previously owned by XYZ.

Please suggest me how can I get to know the previous owner after reassigning the owner.

Thank you

Regards

    Hi David,

Thankyou for your reply, I have made one workflow. If I make some changes, then a field show the data. Now, Is there a way I can show the historic or existing user.

For example, before the workflow run, I have assign a record which is not showing up on that view. Now If I make another changes i can see the user. Pls guide me on this

    Thankyou

Both suggested alternatives are good, however, would say you can use audit entries as well, which you show you previous and new owner.

One option would be a real-time workflow that runs on the before step on assign/owner change. This could read the previous owner, and create a note with this, or store it in a custom lookup field.

You'd need to create a separate workflow for each entity this applies to. An alternative would be to create a plugin to do the same, which could be reused across entities, though you'd still need to register a plugin step for each entity

    Hi Garry,

    Hope you're doing well.

Can I check if your requirement is specific to any entity or all the entities in the system? I mean, for example, you need to capture the previous owner only in Case and Account or all the entity records.
