Creating a workflow to bypass closing a Quote on the Opportunity form

Posted on by 35

Can anyone show me how to create a workflow so that I can bypass closing a quote from draft to active to close before closing an opportunity as won? (I created a custom quote not using OOB)

I currently have the quote as a subgrid on my Opportunity form (we have 2 diff ones). and I need specific users to close the opportunity as Won or Lost without having to close the quote out as well. Currently it wont let me close as won unless I first close the quote (first activate it then close out) we want to bypass these steps because I need the most efficient way when training a group of people who will not use CRM for anything else but this process.

thanks

Unfortunately, I get an error message still when closing out because I have Active quotes (on my subgrid in Opportunity form) and apparently you have to close them as active then closed before you can close the Opportunity as won. I dont understand why. If I tried to set up a workflow to bypass this and leave quote open and close opportunity out only? is that possible? The quote isnt important to us as far as being active or not. its there for our CSR center to create and send as PDF to clients. the status isnt important only the opportunity is.

    Hi,

as per your requirement description, you are saying you have created Custom entity as Quote and not using OOB quote entity.

If my understanding is correct. Then you should be able to Close the opprtunity as Won. System prevent closing the opprtunity as Won in case if all OOB quotes associated to Opporunity should be closed. However in your case since you are not creating any record in OOB quote entity you should be able to close the opportunity as won.
