Reset in Year end Closing Process

Posted on by 35

Hi All,

Can anyone explains about the functionality of Reset in Year end Closing Process?

In Which Case We Can Use this functionality?

I've Scenario Where I've performed year end closing and later user made some adjustments and requested to Rerun the Year end Closing Process. So Second time I've done the same process but System has posted Double entries( Actually System has to Update the amounts Instead, It got Posted for One More time). Because of this My trial balance report has gone wrong. Even after Doing the Update Balances (Financial Dimension Sets) and Rebuild Balances (Financial Dimension Sets) Still the trial balance and Posted transactions remained with the same Value. Nothing got Changed.

If Reset Button Functionality is to Revert the Posted transactions then i Would Revert the Opening Balances and then i will re run the year end Closing.

So Please suggest us to move forward..

Thank you.

    Many thanks!

We were also having this same issue.

Running a second year end close doubled up all the balances instead of deleting the first roll over, and the correct check box were ticked.

Using the "reset" option does nothing at all in the opening balances transfer method.

When I went General Ledger --> Setup --> financial dimensions --> financial dimension sets and rebuilt balances, the correct balances showed.

Reset Option is the proper solution i think, its worked for me, otherwise it will duplicate the OB leger Values.

    Thanks for your suggestion.

    Hello

It's really Very strange Which I haven't seen in any of the Project.

We Don't the know the reason Why system Can't able to Override the Existed Balances with new balances.

Here We've Only two Options One is Rebuild Balances and the Other one is Reset Opening Balances.

In My Case Rebuild Balances also Not Working. So I've done the reset Opening Balances Process in this Case whatever the values got transferred to Current year that was Reverted and remained with the existed Values in previous year. Now i again re run the year end Closing process then the values got posted only once.

    Thank you.

    Hi PARAMESH M,

    This seems indeed quite strange.

Can you test in a demo system whether the duplicate transactions disappear if you run the closing-opening job one more time but with a different voucher number to be sure that the problem is not caused by the fact that you used the same?

If the you get the amount 3x then, you need to get a developer involved because the first parameter that you selected ('delete ...') should actually remove prior closing-opening transfers.

It would be great if you could keep us update here on how things are going.

    Many thanks and best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Reinhard,

Below are the entries which has posted twice for One ledger. Similarly It has Posted twice in Other Balance Sheet ledgers too. Here the issue is System is Not Overriding the earlier transactions Instead It's Posting second time with Values. I've got same issue earlier but i resolved it by Performing Rebuild Balances( Main Account) activity. But this time Noting Worked to resolve this.

Nothing Wrong in Parameters. For reference you can see below screen print.

    I've Questions here

    1. If I Use Reset Functionality, Whatever the transactions got transferred will that revert back and Settled as same in Previous year?

    2. After Performing the Reset Functionality If i Rerun the Closing will it get Update in Opening balances? I know Closing Balances will get updated.

Please suggest me the best answer to resolve this..

    Thank you.

    Hi PARAMESH M,

for the reset functionality, please see here: technet.microsoft.com/.../aa498391.aspx

I am wondering about the double entries that you mention.

With the parameter settings shown in your screenshot this is something that should not happen.

Can you provide some more details about the double entries you identified and possibly provide some supporting screenprints?

    Many thanks and best regards,

    Ludwig
