We are a chemical company and have just implemented AX 2009.  We have found the credit management for receivables lacking.  Does anyone have any experience/recommendations of add on modules which will enhance our ability to manage the credit limits for customers?  Thanks.......

What kinds of functionality are you looking for?

We heavily customized our credit management in AX to provide the following --

    1.  Credit check logging.  When the box credit check fails, an infolog error is displayed and the tranasaction is rolled back.  With logging, the failure is recorded along with all relevant information.  It is also possible to run a transaction-less credit check across all customers, usually daily (primarily to pick up new past due issues).

    2.  Credit management.  The credit check failures are used to generate a "to do" list ordered by severity/priority (packing slips waiting on payment are more important than confirmations that might be over limit).  No internal phone calls are required to get the attention of a credit officer.  Also invoices on packing slips are never rejected during posting (if you already delivered the product, it's really too late for credit check to prevent a problem -- no point in NOT billing the customer).

    3.  Customer and order release, follow-up, and manual hold.  It is often necessary to "excuse" an order to allow delivery without releasing a customer from credit hold (and without changing their setup), and to temporarily release an order or customer for a short time period.  Credit issues can also be pushed for "follow-up" which excludes them from the "to do" list until that date arrives.  This prevents issues that can't be solved on the spot (credit officer unwilling to raise limit or extend terms) without the same issue recurring over and over as attempts to process orders are rejected.

    4.  Setup and security.  Changing the credit critical fields (limit, past due, etc.) on a customer requires approval.  Anyone that can post a document can generate a credit failure, but only credit officers can view credit data and release/review/follow-up/hold a customer.  Attempts to modify the credit terms on a customer/order, for example, post a credit transaction which must be reviewed/released.  Of course this is configurable.  Also provides for periodic review, i.e. if the customer's terms were setup more than 24 months ago (again for example), forces a credit officer to re-approve the terms.

Those are the fundamentals we found missing out of the box.

We implemented Sable Advanced Credit and it has been functional for us. We addressed and resolved some Inter-company credit issues
