I still advise you not to use databse log for this purpose unless you have very few POs and lines, and changes,  and are actively managing the databse log clean up, and other related tables.

I have tried this but the Modified by field is empty but from database log shows to me which user update the PO.

I strongly suggest don't do this.

Better is to  go into the AOT and to enable i.e.to make visible fields like created by and modified by so those show on the form

    -or enable PO change control.

You can use DatabaseLog (System administration -> Inquiries -> Database -> Database log).

To setup database log go to the System administration -> Setup -> Database -> Database log setup.
