Hello All,

I am trying to auto populate ledger financial dimension values based on custom financial dimension.

My custom financial dimensions are,

1. Client Org Unit

2. Final Client

3. local Sub Industry

When i select the Client Org Unit i need to auto populate the remaining two dimension in General ledger form.

Please provide any suggestion on how to achieve this, also let me know if there are any standard class which i can look into to get any idea.

Thanks.

    Hello Prakash,

I am not sure what is missing here ? Ludwig first answer is exactly matching with customer expectations.

    • Custom dimensions are used in the process
    • User selects first dimension (Client Org. Unit) and other dimensions are defaulted.

Exactly what Derived dimensions are designed for.

Please check again the link from Ludwig and also official documentation and test setup described there:

    Hi Dr. Ludwig Reinhard,

Thanks a lot for sharing the details.

I have attached the previous screen shots for sample purpose only from project dimension.

Actual requirement is from fully customized dimension named as "Client Org Unit". From this customized dimension "Client Org unit" need to populate the corresponding further dimension - "Final Client" & "Local Sub Industry" in the Ledger dimension from General Journal Lines form.

Kindly guide me, how to implement this and where the new logics need to place for populate the respective dimension in General Journal Lines form.

Below mentioned screenshots for your references.

    Hi Prakash,

This seems to be related to the system defined entity (projects) that you use.

For those entities you don't need this derived dimension setup because when you open a project you can define the default financial dimensions that shall be used when you enter a project related transaction.

This is defined at the project level in the financial dimension tab of your project.

If I have a look at your initial question about custom financial dimensions, I do, however, not see a problem because for financial dimensions of the type 'custom type' the derived financial dimension functionality works ou of the box.

Overall, I cannot see to develop something here in X++ because the standard system configuration features seem to be able doing what you want.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Ludwig Reinhard,

    Thanks for your help.

For my case "Derived Dimension" button is disabled. Attached the sample dimension and derived dimension status for your references. So i tried to do the auto populate using our custom logic in x++. Kindly help on.

    Hi Gnana,

Please check the derived financial dimension functionality.
