Currency Translation in MR

We are trying to use MR to translate Euros to USD.  For the majority of our accounts this is working.  We have selected a fixed rate (using the "closing" instead of "current" or "average" rate) for retained earnings so that the USD amount will remain fixed for the whole year.  This line is not calculating correctly.  The Euro balance is correct and if I manually calculate using the rate, I get the correct USD amount, but MR displays a completely different (WRONG) USD amount and I can't figure out what is causing this.

    Hi,

    Can you check if you are running the latest version of Management Reporter? In the past there was an issue with the currency translation.

    The latest version is CU13. You can find the download here: mbs.microsoft.com/.../MROverview

    This requires a customersource or partnersource account to access.

    We are in the test phase still and working toward go live - I believe they decided to put off updating until after go live - my version listed is 2.1.9001.11

    will currency translation remain inaccurate so long as we are not on the most current version? or is there a workaround?

    Hi,

    When the problem is in Management Reporter, you will continue having this problem. Then you need to upgrade. You can have a look at Issue search in Lifecycle services.

    This will tell you the latest fix was done in CU11. Your version number indicates you are on CU9. So I would strongly advise you to upgrade to the latest version.

    Just to satisfy my curiosity, I changed this account to use the same rate type as ALL the other accounts (which are translating accurately).  It sill gives me an inaccurate result.  I changed the report to display euro instead of USD just in case something was up with the database storing the euro number, but nope - the euro report was accurate.  I have no idea why MR would accurately translate ALL BUT ONE account even when they are ALL using the same currency rate??

    You can probably satisfy the curiosity if you follow the link to Issue search in my.previous reply. :)

    There are some problems explained in detail. It can be related to certain transaction types.

    A consultant finally located this for me:

    "Looking at the list of bug fixes from CU11 – I wouldn’t be surprised if this was the issue:

    Retained earnings are calculated taking the full opening balance each year times the exchange rate instead of the entry each year times the exchanged resulting in incorrect data."

    So I guess we will be upgrading to a newer version. Thanks!
