Exchange rates/rate type in Management reporter?

Hi all,

is there some setup in Management reporter, that allows the user to switch between different currency translation types(current, weighted average etc.)? and how to find out, which exchange rate type the Management reporter uses?

In AX we have following setup:

4237.MR.png

There are actually several exchange rate types in the GL module setup, but I don't know why no type was set up here, for Management reporter. And what  rate type is used actually in MR.

Thank you!

    Hi JuleWergne,

I cannot tell you the exact formula. To find out you would need the help of a developer.

I assume that the conversion is made the same way as for GP, which is described here:

    community.dynamics.com/.../management-reporter-currency-translation-using-the-average-translation-type

Yet, please double check with a tech-guy to get a confirmation.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hello Ludwig,

one more question: how is actually weighted average rate calculated in AX?

do you have probably some example?

Microsoft Docs gives the definition as "Weighted average –  this method takes the (exchange rate * days in effect)/days in period"-->the wording is not quite clear for me.

    I have a simple example:

we have in February one transaction of 4000 USD on 10.02.2021 and second transaction 15000 USD on 15.02.21.

Would be the weighted average for exchange rate here calculated as (4000*1,2104 + 15000*1,2108)/19000 = 1,2107 ?

(calculation I have taken here is quite different from how MS describes it and what Management reporter takes, so I guess Microsoft must calculate it in another way..)

    Date Rate EUR:USD

    01.02.2021 1,2136

    02.02.2021 1,2084

    03.02.2021 1,2044

    12.02.2021 1,2147

    15.02.2021 1,2108

    02.03.2021 1,2053

    03.03.2021 1,2028

    Thank you!

    Hello JuleWergne,

There are not too many options available. In addition to what you have available in the COA, you can define a currency display and apply a currency filter in the row definitions.

They allow you translating your data into other currencies.

Have you tried making use of those functionalities?

To see the rate that is actually applied in your case where you have multiple rates setup, the easiest thing might be posting a small number of transactions in a demo/test environment and then starting to analyze the data in MR.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig
