D365 users randomly lose access to the "Sales, Enterprise app access" user role

I'll randomly hear from our salespeople that they can't access the Sales app randomly. It'll be functioning just fine one minute, then all of a sudden they lose access and lose the security role that grants them access. In order to resolve I must go in and reapply the security role for all affected users.

Some information that may/may not help:

  • Our environment only includes the Sales app and no additional packages/apps.
    • We do have a RingCentral plugin but I can't see any reason why it would be causing security roles to be changed/revoked.
  • It happens randomly to all users aside from system administrators.

I really don't know what else to include in order to try to resolve this recurring issue, but if there is something let me know and I'll gather the info and put it here.

Any assistance at all is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Gupgup

Are you still having this issue or was support ever able to resolve it?

I turned on auditing and even though a user loses the role, the disassociate event does not show up in the audit, but if you manually remove a role from a user, the event does show up.  This is obviously a bug.  The next time it happens, I'll open a ticket with Microsoft.

No absolute resolution, as we just onboarded a new employee and he's been consistently having his "Sales, Enterprise app access" privileges revoked consistently. Each time he lets me know his access gets revoked, I try to remove another role of his to see if there's anything going on between security roles that may be causing this. As of right now, that's the only way I'm troubleshooting this.

Any luck figuring this one out?  The same thing is happening with one of my users.

    Hi,

Users are automatically assigned roles based on the license assigned. The changes in the licenses can lead to changes in the role in the last user sync performed.

From the given details, I believe its random for your users i.e. the assigned roles of the same userA is getting updated in no time even though there has been no change in the license.

If this is the scenario, I would recommend you to submit a Support ticket as this is not expected and needs to be investigated by Microsoft Support team.

    Thanks,

    Rakesh
