I have a scenario where I have a project in which I outsource some tasks of the project and some tasks are provided by my company, how will I achieve it in the project management and accounting module and calculate the total task of the project. Thanks.

    Hi Muhammad Bilal,

An easy and often used way is using a service item for the outsourced services and creating a purchase order out of your project for this service item where you order the services you need.

You can do this by selecting the item tasks for purchase orders from your project, which ensures that the PO and the costs are linked to your project.

Would be great if you could test this in a demo/test environment first and let us know if you need any other help / information.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Bilal,

I hope you are doing well.

There are different ways to create a PO from Project accounting to outsourced work to an external vendor. You can create from Item task or Item requirement screen.

You can find some comprehensive details on below MS docs:

    1. docs.microsoft.com/.../create-a-purchase-order-for-a-project

    2. docs.microsoft.com/.../about-creating-purchase-orders-for-projects

For internal tasks that will be managed by company resources, you can create different cost categories that could have transaction type of hour/expense/item and then to book actual cost use Expense/Hour journals/Item requirement screen.

For your referenes: Type of cost categories in AX 2012

    docs.microsoft.com/.../about-transaction-types

    How to create Expense/Hour/Item Journal:

    docs.microsoft.com/.../create-journals-for-projects
