Upgrade from AX2009 to AX 2012 R3 and WHS functionality

Hello

We are planning to perform an upgrade of our AX 2009 to AX 2012 R3.  During this process we would like to enable the new WHS functionality.  The plan is to follow this blog to complete the upgrade process.

At the moment AX 2009 is used using WMS1 functionality.

  1. May I ask for anyone who gone through such upgrade to share his experience? In terms of areas of concern to look for, issues encountered.  Any issues following the upgrade?
  2. I am not using pallet numbers in AX 2009 and would like to start using the WHS scanning solution following the upgrade.  Has anyone done something similar following an upgrade?  Are license plates a must to use the scanning functionality in AX 2012 R3?

Thanks for helping

Omar

    Hi Omar,

I will try to explain briefly. When you are doing a full data upgrade, you also convert the current settings with transactions and it will be hard to change the inventory dimensions. This is because there are transactions depending on current used setup.

You can also do a data upgrade or migration only for setup and master tables. Then you have the option to change settings. After that you can load opening balances like ledger, customers, sales orders, on-hand inventory.

The license plate is mandatory to use in the new WHS solution.
