Accessing on-premises instance deployed on local VM from a local network system (PC)

We have successfully developed on-premises instance and it is working fine. We want to test it with different user roles, for that I want to access our VM( Virtual Machine ) to be accessible on our local network. I searched the internet and found a related question (https://community.dynamics.com/ax/f/33/t/221542 and then followed this https://hellodax.com/2016/06/27/how-to-acess-ax-7-from-other-machine-preview-vm-version-ax7-update-1/ for certificate and accessing on local network). I can access D365 instance only through remote desktop and only on IE browser. I cannot use chrome browser within remote desktop as it give the below error.

d365-chrome-error.png

I tried to access it through my local network system by using both IE and chrome browser. It give me same error as above. I cleared browser cache etc multiple times but without any luck.

I need help in this regard as we want to test different functionality of D365 with varying user roles. Your help will be highly appreciated.

FYI

We followed this link https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/unified-operations/dev-itpro/dev-tools/access-instances  for development of VM D365  to  deploy D365 instance on local server

Please note that Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations On-premises edition for an actual deployment has a different meaning than a single-box Developer/Demo VM downloaded from LifeCycle Services / Microsoft Connect website, you really should not call it on-premises version.

It is also unclear what are you trying to do with Remote Desktop.

As the guide you have linked clearly states that you have to edit your Windows hosts file to make a network redirection for the AX 7 URL from your local computer to the IP address of the Virtual Machine joined to your network domain.

Since it is a network-tier redirection, it does not matter what browser do you use, it should work fine, as long as the browser is deemed compatible with the version of D365fF&O deployment you are using, which you may find in the system requirements documentation.

You can also add other user accounts whom are part of an Azure Active Directory, if you enable inbound/outbound communication on the VM for WAN (internet).

Thank you for the quick replay.

    Apology for miss-understanding single-box Developer/Demo version as on-premises version

From Remote Desktop I mean VM that is running onpremises (VM deployed on our local server), on which we have deployed single-box Developer/Demo version, which is working fine and can be accessed on Internet Explorer browser (IE) only. When I try to access https://usnconeboxax1aos.cloud.onebox.dynamics.com on chrome browser it give me error as displayed on the first post.

Yes I know that. We have all ready allowed inbound/outbound communication for VM. I have added some of our team members with different Roles.

The purpose of linking article was to let you know that I followed those article but still facing issues. I want to access our VM (VM on which d365 Developer/Demo version deployed) to be accessible on our local network so that our team members with different roles can access d365 instance.  What happen when I access it from local network (form IE or chrome)

    First

After proceeding unsafely. I get below error

    d365-chrome-after-proceed.png

I exported the certificate from IIS (VM) and imported it in chrome as well as in IE on local system but I get above error in both browser. What could be the cause of this error.

FYI below are my host file entries

    127.0.0.1 usnconeboxax1aos.cloud.onebox.dynamics.com
    10.10.1.151 usnconeboxax1aos.cloud.onebox.dynamics.com

Your hosts entry for your local computer is incorrect. I can see you copied the entries from the VM's hosts file, which is fine, but you need to redirect all addresses on your local computer's VM instead of the local address (127.0.0.1) to the IP of the VM (presumably 10.10.1.151). Make sure the hosts file which you have on the VM is still pointing at localhost.

I have tried to set it up on my local PC.

Did the bridged connection for the VM, and my router has assigned a network IP to the second network controller. I have added the IP redirection entries to my local computers' hosts file. As you can see, it works perfectly in IE and Edge, but Firefox is not supported:

Thank you very much it is working in IE (Internet Explorer) and Edge after mapping domain name on the local system.

    Just For Your Info

    1. Before this I was accessing VM from local system by IP address (https://10.10.1.151). As we do test our other applications.

    2. I know dynamics is not supported on Firefox but Chrome is in the supported list and it is not working on chrome. I don't care as it is working in IE and Edge that is enough for me

I am grateful to you for your time and help.

    Warm regards
