Importing product attribute values using DIXF in AX2012R2

I'd like to Import product attribute values for defined products. There is no existing entity. The table structure is rather complex and I couldn't find the right base table to set up a new entity. I thought EcoResProductInstanceValue might be used but it is an extended table (from EcoResInstanceValue) and can hence not be used to create an new entity.

Any hints welcome!

    Hi Ronald,

In the past I had also encountered the problem, not being able to create an entity based on an inherited table using the wizard. Still in CU7 it is not supported.

In this case you can actually create manually the needed Staging table, Interaction class and Target query. That was my solution in the past with Operating Units. Luckiy this one is now a standard entity. You can have a look at the details of this entity to create your own without use of the wizard.

It is a bit more work, but at least you will learn every single detail of the technical part.

It is a bit hard, but finally I managed to create a tool so I could import attributes values from a csv file. To make it easier, my process could create the template from the category hiearchy form (my process searchs the attributes from the current category selected and the inherit attributes), that template contains one row for each item related to the category, and one column for each attribute related to the category. That template is edited by a user (he fills the rows with the attributes values) and then is imported, that part is also difficult, because you have different attributes types (strings, booleans, integers...), and if one of them is a fixed list you have to validate the values against the list. the empty cells are not imported, so the user can update only what he wants.

It took me a lot of time, but it is a easy and friendly tool for the users.
