Transaction Level Detail

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

I am not a user of Dynmaics NAV.  I am requesting transaction level detail from a company I am working with (from sales and cost perspective) for the prior three years.  What I would like to know (without having familiarity with the interface, capabilities, or the users proficiency with the system) is 1) is it possible to pull transaction level detail (date, invoice/po#, customer, product, supplier, invoice amounts, material costs, quantity, etc.) in excel format? and 2)are there any resources or step by step guides that could walk us through this process?  Thank you in advance for any assistance or insight.

NAV is very flexible to provide you with needed data.

Generally it has several ledgers that store the data (General Ledger stores accounting transactions; Customer and Vendor ledger store related information on invoices and payments; Item ledger contains the information on items movement and values).

E.g., you can first refer to the lists of posted sales invoices. Type "Posted Sales Invoices" in the search field to get the needed list. Then you can export it to Excel using standard tools.

You need to search the reports in Navision for getting these details as there are lot of reports available.

    Hi,

Lots of Standard reports available. As you said you don't have much understanding about system. Suggested way is to consult any consultant and find out any report already there in your format. If not there then create the same to overcome this situation.

Also there is several integrated functionality available on NAV. By the help of that you can extract the data directly from Excel as well by writing simple SQL query.

    Regards,

    Hi,

    1) is it possible to pull transaction level detail (date, invoice/po#, customer, product, supplier, invoice amounts, material costs, quantity

Of course it is possible, you can easily take this data from NAV using standart NAV reports like Customer/Item Sales or Sales Analisys by Dimensions (msdn.microsoft.com/.../hh169156(v=nav.90).aspx

    msdn.microsoft.com/.../hh168163(v=nav.90).aspx)

If you want to see all transactions you can check Item Ledger entries and Vallur entries by entry type - Sale
