Test Server upgraded 2013r2 version 12.00.2198 to 2016r2 (became version 16.00.0552) (previously at version 12.00.2130 before 2017 year end update)
Could not launch Utilities because of version number error (inserted below).
Installed 2016r2 yr end update 2017 patch MSDGP16-KB4046341-env-msp- now became version number 16.00.0641 but with same error--
Referred to Support Hot Topics 2016 Upgrade---Installed Canadian payroll 2017 update-- same error.
Please advise how we should proceed for a successful upgrade.. Thanks... Eric Shaver

Hi,
In order to update from 12.00.2198 to GP 2016R2, I think you need to install the Canadian English 2017 year-end. I couldn't find where the English version has been released. Here's note 6 from the upgrade path instructions issued by Microsoft:
6. To install the 2017 US Year End update, you need to be on 12.00.2104 or later or 14.00.0983 or later. Once you install the 2017 US Year End update, you cannot upgrade to Microsoft Dynamics GP 2015 or Microsoft Dynamics GP 2016, until the 2017 Canadian Year-End Update is released, target release middle of December 2017.
