Changing Depreciation Fields

Hi:

I need to change the Depreciation Start Date, No. of Depreciation Years, and Depreciation Ending Date on some fixed assets.  (I know about the setting to allow for changing such fields.)

In order to have the Book Value of each of these assets updated accordingly, will I need to run depreciation again?

Thanks!

John

John if you have already depreciated the asset (have depreciation entries), you will not be able to change the start date to a later date than it currently has. You can however cancel the depreciation entries and start again. I would definitely setup a test company and experiment there first.

The depreciation will only calculate based on the last depreciation date and book value (it will not recalculate from the beginning). You will not cancel the entries and redo the depreciation. Be careful if you have Integration with G/L, it will affect your G/L as well.

Actually, there is a selection in the Depreciation Book window that does allow you to make such changes.  I did so, today, in a test company.  :)

What is the best way to correct Book Value, then?
