Items drifting from anchor

Posted on by 5

We created some training using Dynamic 365 guides. Everything was working ok until we moved the QR code anchor we were using about two feet. Once we did that, we had to rescan the anchor. However, rather than shift everything one or two feet, everything is now almost twenty feet away. This happens even after we move all of the icons back to a position where we want them to be. There's clearly something we're doing wrong, but for the life of us we can't figure out what happened and how to fix it. I'm still pretty new to the tool so any little bit can help. We're not yet at the point where we can use Azure guides, since that would require a 3D model. So we're really looking to use a QR code anchor for the time being

    Hello,

I'm sorry to hear about your difficulties, that is unexpected.  Have you tried clearing all holograms in the OS settings panel?  This can be helpful in situations like this, because it forces the HoloLens to re-map the space.  Note that clearing all holograms will not only force a re-scan of the anchor and fresh mapping for your environment, but also remove your existing spatial shortcuts from the operating system.  Please see more documentation about the procedure here:

To clear the maps and all registered holograms from the device, go to Settings > System > Holograms > Remove all holograms.

    Hi partner,

I found two instructions for using QR code anchors, and I don't know if they can help you. The first link mentions information about the location:

Ideally, the anchor should not be moved after the author places it. If a permanent placement isn't possible, consider creating a mount, so that the anchor can be placed consistently in the same location/orientation each time.
