Hi All,

I want to learn TFS/VSTS in AX 2012, how the code change is merged, how to merge code from DEV (UAT or Test) to Production deployment using TFS/VSTS.

How we can refresh lower environments from Production using TFS/VSTS.

Please provide me the links or any documents.

I am completely new in TFS/VSTS.

Thanking you.

Regards,

Akbar

    Hello,

If you want to find something about TFS from start to finish, I recommend that you check these links, you will probably find all the answers you are looking for.

    - Joris' blog: daxmusings.codecrib.com/.../alm-tfs.html

    - MSDN: docs.microsoft.com/.../version-control-system

    - Also: community.dynamics.com/.../tfs-integration-with-microsoft-dynamics-ax-2012-and-automated-scripts-for-build-and-deployment

You should use TFS in development environments.

Then a build system should pull the code from TFS and perform a build. Then you can release models or modelstore from the build system to UAT and Prod, but TFS is not needed anymore (at least not for managing the actual source code - of course you can store models / modelstores in TFS).

About refreshing lower environments from Prod, I assume you want to refresh data from Prod but not code?

Your preprod/UAT system should anyway contain the same code than what you have in Prod, assuming you are doing modelstore deliveries to Prod.
