You can set the Warehouse dimension to be mandatory for a storage dimension group. When the Warehouse dimension is mandatory in a storage dimension group, the dimension must be specified when you include a product on an order line.
Mandatory: If this checkbox is selected then you can set the warehouse dimension to be mandatory for a storage dimension group. When the warehouse dimension is mandatory in a storage dimension group, the dimension must be specified when you do a PO or a SO.
By default, the Site dimension is mandatory. Therefore, a value for this dimension must always be specified when you include a product on an order line.
If a warehouse dimension is active, then the dimension value must be specified in order to handle inventory items in a physical process.
If a warehouse dimension is both active and mandatory, then the dimension value must be already specified when the product is included on a transaction line.
Product one is associated with a storage dimension group where the Warehouse dimension is active but not mandatory. When you include this product on a sales order line, you do not have to enter a value for the Warehouse dimension. If you want to adjust the on-hand quantity for the product, then a value must be specified for the Warehouse dimension.
• Product two is associated with a storage dimension group where the Warehouse dimension is active and mandatory. You must specify a value for the Warehouse dimension when you include the product on the sales order line.
When you set an inventory dimension to mandatory, the following configuration values also apply:
• By default, the Blank receipt allowed check box is cleared and unavailable. This setting guarantees that you specify the mandatory dimension whenever you receive items into inventory.
• The Blank issue allowed check box is cleared and unavailable by default. This setting guarantees that you specify the mandatory dimension whenever you deduct items from inventory.
The Site dimension guarantees that all inventory transactions are associated with a site so that master planning functions across all sites.
A primary stocking dimension appears automatically on the on-hand and reservation forms and affects how ordered items are re-reserved upon physical item receipts. The following rules apply:
• The dimension must be specified when the item receipts or issues are physically updated.
• When automatic reservation is active, items are reserved per the selected dimension, providing that the dimension is also specified for the actual item transaction. For example, if the warehouse is specified on a sales order line and primary stocking is specified, automatic reservation will reserve items only at that warehouse.
• Ordered reservations are not re-reserved upon physical receipt. For example, if a sales order line is reserved at warehouse A and location 1, the warehouse is set to primary stocking, the location is set to secondary stocking, and the warehouse is changed when the receipt is physically updated, the sales order line will not automatically be re-reserved. However, if you change the location to 2, the order line will automatically be re-reserved for location 2.
