Fetch data in Competitor field within Close Opportunity as Lost form

Posted on by
Hi People,

I have a requirement that I need to fetch the /Competitor/ from Close Opportunity form and populate that to Current Incumbent field in Customer main form. I tried looking into workflow but by default there is no Close Opportunity entity. Moreover, I did little research and came to know that this only be achieved with the help of plugin but I'm afraid I didn't written any plugin before.

If there's anything work around to achieve this requirement or any suggestions then please do provide it.

Thanks!

     Hi partner,
The account that needs to be updated is associated with that? Accounts on the opportunity related to 'opportunity close'?
    'Identify Account' field value?
If so, you can get related opportunity firstly, then get account id from this step:
Update field on the account with value from opportunity close:
--"Current Incumbent" field is one lookup field related to Competitor entity, Right?
Click 'Show advanced options' in 'Update a row' action, find the field you need :

    Hi Leah,

In regard to the 'Customer' entity that you didn't find, I just witnessed that at your end this entity will be 'Accounts'. If you can please share 'Update a Row' action steps so that it will be easier to understand and also try to implement that at my end.

    Thanks!

    Hi Partner,
As my suggested before, you can use power automate to get "Competitor" field value and update another field with the value.
In power automate, you can use opportunity close entity.
But i don't find one entity named customer, And I wonder if the customer record that needs to be updated is associated with that?
--'Update a row' action need entity name and record guid.

I hope you can verify my answer if it helps you! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
    Regards,
    Leah

Fetch data in Competitor field within Close Opportunity as Lost form
    Hi Leah,

Actually, my question is that when a user clicks on "Close as Lost" button on Opportunity form then Quick Create: Opportunity Close form opens up and within that Quick Create form there is a field called "Competitor" which is a lookup field. My requirement is that whatever has been filled in that particular "Competitor" field should be fetched and populated on "Current Incumbent" field on Customer form.

If there's any workaround to achieve this then please confirm, thanks.

    Hi Partner,
The customer you mentioned is account/contact related to the opportunity?
If so, you can try to use power automate to create one automated floe, which can fetch data in opportunity close entity:
If I'm misunderstanding, can you provide a more detailed explanation to help me understand?

I hope you can verify my answer if it helps you! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
    Regards,
    Leah
