Dear Experts,

I really want to know the main differences between Dynamic CRM 2016 VS dynamic AX 2016 (AX7), i was reading a lot of articles on the websites but all of them is old, and the new AX 7 have a lot of the features than previous versions like (cloud deployment, UI(UX) and Responsive application on tablet and integration with office 365).

I will be appreciated for your feedback.

Dynamics CRM is a CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system.

Dynamics AX is an ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system. It covers many things that CRM system don't, such as accounting, warehouses, manufacturing etc.

thanks for your reply.

I need the difference specific features between them. i have worked on AX 2012 and dynamic CRM 2013 - 2016.

but there is a new release of AX that cover a lot of features that was not available on AX2012,

Nowadays AX7 is powerful, so what is the features the CRM 2016 have and the AX7 is not????

I doubt you could get a detailed comparison here, not that many customers are using that particular AX functionality. The codebase is 90%+ AX 2012 and the feature changes are mostly related to redesigning the user experience or are caused by replacing the used technology underneath, and not a functional redesign.

Your best bet is to reach out to Microsoft or your Partner and ask for a reference, who is actively using the CRM module of AX, then go and visit them to see for yourself.

HI,

You are trying to compare two different products.

CRM is a system mostly used to interact with customers only. Though you can extend it but mainly it rotates around Prospect, Lead, Opportunity, and Quotation. It ends max at Sales Order.

AX has got much more, AX being an ERP is basically kind of financial system, which management can use to analyze business. It covers almost all aspects of a business, From Accounts Receivable to Payable to Inventory, GL, Production etc. everything thing is there.

Can you get GL voucher transactions in standard CRM? E.g. when you post an invoice what financial entries were posted? Which account was debited and what was credited. Can you get that in standard CRM? No. Because CRM is used to manage customer relationship.

I think you are getting confused because of way Microsoft is brining everything in cloud. Deployment topologies do not make the "inners of two different products", same.

For an end user may be PHP and ASP.net are same, because end user is looking at running website only, he/she is not aware of difference of technology behind and how coding is being done at backend.

Also note that AX2016 does not exists. The correct product name is "Microsoft Dynamics AX". This without a year or version number. This product was also known as with codename AX7.

AX2015 or AX2016 was never communicated by Microsoft.
