Delete OOB Invoice Status Reasons

Hi,

I'm using Dynamics 365 Online 9.2.

I have to clean up the Status Reasons a customer has available on the Invoice Entity. They don't use any of the out of the box Status Reasons when the Invoice is at "Active" Status. Instead they're using colour coded emojis. I'm wondering is it ok to Delete the unused Status Reasons or does Dynamics have a dependency on them for some OOB features? For example, the "Booked" and "Installed" Status Reasons seem to be used by Field Service. Could removing these Status Reasons cause an issue with a future update of Field Service?

I can remove these options using JavaScript, but I'm just want to check if it is possible to actually (safely) delete them instead.

Thanks for your help.

    Hi,

    Thank you for your query.

Yes, you can delete these options from the Status Reason.

    Things to consider:

    • Existing data with these values (status reasons) will be impacted and should be fixed.
    • Any flows/processes/scripts/business rules/reports using these status reasons may break.

As far as I tested, out of the box processes, do not break.

I deleted all Active - Status Reasons and added a new "Sent" (in a Trial online environment).

Converted an Order to Invoice and it looks fine (it took the Sent status by default):

I also removed an option for the Paid Status Code, and when I click on Invoice Paid button, I see following:

Please note, Full is a custom option and it works fine.

In my opinion, if there was an out-of-the-box process dependent on these Status Reasons, Microsoft won't allow modifying these (like Status Code cannot be changed).

Also, here is a very nice article for your read (quite old but still applicable):

Thanks very much for getting back to me Wahaj. The customer isn't using any of the OOB values, so I have removed them.
