I cannot paste text from Word in the Marketing email designer

I cannot paste text that I copied from Word or Outlook in the email designer (to a text block). Is this by design, or linked to the setup of our Dynamics installation or browser (I have the same behaviour in Edge and Chrome)? I couldn't find any reference to this restriction on any Microsoft page or other site.

I CAN paste text that I copied from Notepad. So I thought it was related to the presence of Word formatting, but even cleaning all formatting in Word doesn't solve the problem.

Anyone have any ideas what could be the cause of this, and how to fix it?

Thanks

    Hi,

The text in the text block element should be plain text.

But the text copied from Word or Outlook is not plain text, which contains some formats or styles.

Thank you Nya, for your answer.

If this is true, then I find this seriously limiting the usability (and usefulness) of the email editor. As a minimum it should strip the formatting during the pasting process, not prevent pasting alltogether.

Do you have an official Microsoft information that confirms this is intended behaviour?

    Hi,

There isn't any documentation about it.

But the text element in the email is actually the Text in HTML.

    E.g.

    Test

It can be found in the HTML designer of the email.

So it's in fact not a Dynamics design issue, but rather something to do with HTML.

Thanks, but that piece of html code just shows that the div is a text block. I'm no expert in html but this doesn't explain the behaviour. It's probably designed in this way, which is a shame.

    Hi,

Although these elements can be used independently without coding HTML, they are still based on HTML and the emails are known as HTML emails.

It would be more advisable to entrust the design of the marketing email to someone who is experienced in HTML.

Of course, you could raise a support ticket for further help.

I've been using this program for almost three years. The inability to copy and paste from word into a CRM is new...within the last couple of weeks. Before that, it worked just fine.

My whole team is experiencing the same thing and, yes, this is new behavior. We have been using this tool for two years and all previous emails were initially written in word by members of the team that are not familiar with HTML. We were previously able to simply copy and paste the text directly into the email editor. Suddenly, this stopped being the case.

I now have to dump the word text into an HTML editor, add all the CSS and formatting, and then paste that HTML into the email designer. It adds at least one hour to the process if not more.

I logged a ticket with Microsoft and they replied saying that in fact this is a bug they are working to resolve. No timeline was given in terms of resolution but they are aware and are actively working on a fix.
