AX2012R3CU8 - Inventory dimension location in production bill of material is not getting updated

Hi,

I have created WMS controlled product with bill of material having resource consumption and route having resource group with WMS controlled issue warehouse and location defined on resource group.

I have created production order manually and I can see, inventory dimension location is not getting updated in production bill of material in production order.

I have firmed the planned production order and I can see, inventory dimension location is getting updated in the production bill of material in production order.

Please help me to update the inventory dimension location in the production bill of material in production order when production order is created manually.

Thanks & Regards,

Amol

Please try to estimate and schedule the production order to see if it is updated. If it is resource dependent it does not get the resource allocated before this.

    Hi Fredric,

Thank you so much for your reply.

I tried to estimate and schedule production order. but, still inventory dimension location is not getting updated in the production bill of material. I can see inventory dimension warehouse is getting updated appropriately from the input warehouse defined in resource group but location is not getting updated.

When, I tried to debug the production order, when, it is created manually, I can see, there is a condition in the code, that, if product is WMS controlled, then, location will not be updated. When, I tried to debug the production order, when, it is created by firming the planned production order, I can see, there is no condition in the code, that, if product is WMS controlled, then, location will not be updated.

Moreover; the method used to define this condition is not used anywhere else.

So, I am not sure behind this condition being added specially when production order is created manually for WMS controlled product.

If, I comment this small piece of code then it work absolutely fine, but, I am not sure if commenting the code is the write solution to this issue.

Please let me know, if, this is the write solution or there is some setup which I am missing.

    Thanks & Regards,

    Amol

    Hi Everyone,

I discussed this problem with Microsoft support team.

As per Microsoft this is the intended behavior of product.

When product is wms controlled then wms setup like wave template, work template and location directives must be defined for raw material picking so as to create work which will take pick location as per location directive and put away location as per production input location defined in resource/ resource group / warehouse as per requirement.

As per my requirement, as I want to use back flushing of raw material on finish, hence, I don't want to create work for raw material picking because it reserves the raw material inventory as soon as work is created and pick the raw material inventory as soon as work is completed. I want to reserve and pick the raw material inventory only when I do report as finished as per requirement. This is not supported in AX 2012 R3 CU10.

I have also created product suggestion (Production bom location is not getting updated) in Microsoft so that based on likes Microsoft will consider this required in future CUs.

If you have the same requirement please like it.

    Thanks & Regards,

    Amol Naukarkar
