Hi,

I was wondering if anyone can tell me if by design, GP does not integrate any 3rd party product security roles/task within their own security roles and tasks. For example, if an ISV integrates with GP menus and windows, and has their own security roles that apply to those windows/menus, is it standard GP behavior that when you assign a GP role to the user, the corresponding 3rd party roles are NOT added by design and has to be manually added? Hope I am making sense!

    I am not sure I am understanding your question completely. Dexterity developed third party products, by and large use the same approach to security as Dynamics GP. Role based security, which wraps up tasks underneath these roles.

    I can think of notable Dexterity Developed products, like WennSoft which uses a mixture of GP Security for Alternate Reports and Windows, but then has its own approach to security for WennSoft modules (i.e. Job Cost, Service and Time Tracking.)

    So I don't think all or nothing works in this situation. I will tell you this, 3rd Party product security is and must be by design a separate consideration from Dynamics GP security.  There are even parts of Dynamics GP, which use alternative approaches to security (like manufacturing).

    You should refer to the documentation for individual third party products to determine their approach to security. When Dexterity is not employed by the developer, then all bets are off.
