is there any way to allow existing out-of-stock sales order line to recognize that Quantity is now available?

Dear

we are facing an issue where sales order are being created and some items are out of stock, this is normal , so these sales order just wait for the replenishment , now once the replenishment is done,

the sales order lines don't see the updated quantity UNLESS we change reservation to manual then to automatic again on sales order header (meaning to refresh the sales order line) or by simply deleting the sales order line and recreating it again (same story for the periodic transfer order form )

this is not an issue if we are only doing refresh for a single sales order, but we have a lot of sales order and transfer orders that are entered everyday

is there any job or routine or setup that would allow existing out of stock sales order line to recognize that Quantity is now available?

    Hi

Are you using functionality in the Warehouse management module? (Available in R3 or later only).

Tim has a post that might help https://timsaxblog.wordpress.com/2015/08/03/backorder-sales-order-lines-in-ax-2012-r3/

Lachlan has some background vimeos that may also be useful e.g.  organicax.com/.../management-of-sales-multiple-deliveries-partial-ship-non-wms

ATP logic can also be useful with a backward time fence .

I assume you are aware of this inquiry:

    1. Sales and marketing > Inquiries > Order status > Backorder lines.
    2. Click Inventory transactions to view the inventory transactions for the customer's backorders, or click Order lines to view the remaining open order lines for the customer.

    3. Select the Link on change view check box to keep a line selected in both views
it will however show all overdue whether or not partially shipped.
    and
    1. Click Sales and marketing > Inquiries > Order status > Open sales order lines.   On the Overview tab, select the order to check the status. View information such as the ship date and the remaining quantity that has to be delivered.

It should be possible to build an exception report or notification from one of these based on e.g. due date and  remaining quantity >0.

This thread might also be of interest https://community.dynamics.com/ax/f/33/t/162132

In practice it may be more useful to work from an item to see which orders have a backlog . Go to the Released Products Form to view backorders for a specific item. Click Product information management > Common > Released products.    On the Released products list page, select an item to view backorders. Backorders for items are listed as open orders.

The periodic job in Tim's blog can reserve stock automatically. If you want to do it manually, you could look at the 'Release sales order picking' form. It's not really designed to be part of the Warehouse management process, but it serves a purpose. It will only show order lines for Items which have stock (i.e., if a line is not reserved, and can't be reserved, it won't show). So you can use it to review which lines are reserved and lines which are not reserved but could be and you can use it to make the reservation (by entering a quantity in 'Activate now' or 'Reservation quantity' fields).
