Misc charges on sales order - how to inherit financial dimensions?

(0) ShareShare

When creating and invoicing sales orders, there are a number of charges available for both header and lines. As the main accounts specified for these charges do not inherit the financial dimensions from the order, we have to put fixed default dimensions on these accounts (according to the account structures). However, the customer wishes the dimensions to be inherited instead.

Has anyone worked with a setup or modification solving this problem?

(the same applies with accounts for automatic transactions)

    Hello ulantz,

Have you tried / tested setting up the financial dimensions at the customer level? The financial dimensions that you setup for your customers are inherited into the SO header and lines.

    Good morning Ludwig,

thanks for your suggestion. The problem is that we cannot default fin dimensions on customer level - we wish to capture the revenues and costs from the site/warehouse level, as the same customer can buy from different sites.

If you have any further suggestions, please be my guest.

    best regards,

    Hello Ulrika,

Have you tried linking your inventory sites to a financial dimension? There is a standard feature available that allows doing that. If this does not work out for you I believe that you need making a system adjustment unless you can convince your customer living with the current solution.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi again,

this is what we have done, but this affects the order lines only, doesn't save the values to the header. We are considering a system adjustment but were curious if there were any other options or ideas for solving this.

    Thanks,

    //Ulrika

So your issues is entirely that the financial dimensions on the header do not inherit the dimension link value when the site is set on the header record?

It makes sense to me why it doesn't do this now, because really the site only matters on the line record, and the site on the header record is merely a default value when adding lines, but I can see in your case an argument for setting the financial dimension even on the header.

Misc. charges would inherit the financial dimension from the header record if it were set.

Here's some code of interest to your problem (if I've properly understood it).

In map InventStorageDimMap method modifiedInventSiteFromParent(), you can find the code that copies the Dimension link to the SalesLine record when the Inventory site is changed.  I would wager that you could add a case branch for SalesTable, and do very much the same thing right in that same block of code.

On R3 CU10, when I change the Site on a sales order header, it does copy the Site link dimension to the sales order header.

    Hi Brandon,

thanks for your reply! Nope, the fin dimensions from the site are set on line level. Doesn't inherit to the header, which in turn doesn't populate the charges... Seems more and more clear that we need to modify this. I will take a look at the code you suggested, and discuss with my developers.

    Have a good day!
