New Company creation and Database

Dear All,

I am new to Dynamics NAV so have lot of questions, when I create a new company in Dynamics NAV does it does not create a new database for that company. I am experienced with Dynamics GP and whenever I create new company it will create database for each company. I have done the following on my NAV test environment.

1) installed successfully NAV 2015

2) I can see all Cronus companies

3) I can create new company under IT Admin-General-Companies and that show up on the list.

When I go to SQL I can see only one database name which I given while installing the NAV, so is this mean all new company I create will goes under that database.

No, it will not create new database.

I t will be in existing database only.

Thanks Mohana for your quick reply. Just to confirm when I create new company initially it wont have any tables and I have to create configuration package from test company or do it manually for each table. I am doing this on test environment and downloaded from MSDN library so it has all departments on it, but I am not going to use some of them, is there a way to disable or inactivate them. Or is this done while I am installing the NAV.

You mean Sales, Purchase and warehouse etc?

You can remove departments and add the separate menu's as you needed.

Are you sure whether customize navigation pane available in NAV 2015 because I am not able to find the same. Can you please help me.

except Home you can Remove, or Add menus in Navigation pane.

Hi Mohana,

Yes I gone to the Navigation pane and trying to remove it but the remove button is not enabling. Please see screen shot below.

You want to remove all departments menu or some menu items like employees in your screenshot?

You can handle it with roles and permissions.

Yes I wanted to remove Human Resources, Resource Planning, Jobs & Warehouse modules.

Is it for all users then you can directly delete from Menusuite in development Environment.

If it is for some users then you can handle it by Roles & permissions as I mentioned before.
