Using Client StartupCmd Options to Synchronize Database

(1) ShareShare

Posted on by

I've built an application that can be used to control the services, modelstore imports, synchronization, and deployment of reports all across multiple AX AOS machines.  The problem I'm having is with using the AX32.exe and the -startupcmd=synchronize parameter.  The client is opening and performing the database synchronization just fine but I need it to exit/close upon completion.  Does anyone have a suggestion on a way to do that?  I see another startupcmd parameter called 'exit' but I can't daisy chain the parameters together.  AX seems to expect just one type of startupcmd.

Thanks,

    Hi Michael,

2 possibilities which both will require AX development.

Or you add the code the close the application in the sysstartupclass which is used.

Or you add code to supply multiple parameters in the -startupCmd.

I once did the second option to start multiple batch groups in an older AX version

    Hi Michael,

You can also try to use the field Automatic shutdown available on the User Options.

It will shut down the client after a given number of minutes when there is no activity.

The value 0 means disabled. Every other value is the number minutes inactivity.

I have just tested in my local VM and its working fine for me, once DB synchronization is complete, AX cleint is getting closed by its own.

I tried both using windows command prompt and Windows Power Shell

    I have used following cmd

    AX32 -startupCmd=Synchronize

    Please check your AX version

I am having AX 2012 R2, application and kernel version as - 6.2.1000.4051

    Please verify

Thanks for the reply.  I too thought of that but wanted to see if there was a way without customizing :)

    Hi,

i think you could help me..how you are able to do data dictionary synchronization by command scripts.

You could use the Axapta AutoRun framework to synchronize the application. It has an exitWhenDone parameter that closes the AX session after synchronization.
