Upgradation from NAV 2017 to NAV 2018

Hi

I've my project with all customization in NAV 2017 now I want to upgrade to NAV 2018. But I want to upgrade my project using Extension(VS code). How to move about this ?

E.g I've installed VS code with AL in NAV 2018 This will require manual coding the project again.

Kindly suggest.

    Hi Chris.

    In NAV2018 there is convert tool txt2AL.exe

    You could export your C/AL objects to *.txt files and convert them to *.al files. After that you can create your extensions. It will be a good idea to make a separate app on each big modification.

    Best practice is do not touch standard objects at all. If you modified some of them - try to transfer your changes to event functions.

    Also AL don't support dotnet variables. You have to replace them to new data types or change your algorithm.

    As a starting point you can use the txtToAL tool as suggested but your code must use events and be “Extensions ready”. Normally this process is not always a conversion.

    Hope you haven't touch the base code. Otherwise you might have to redo the modification using events and make the modification extension ready. As Andrey and Stefano said you can use txt2AL.
