Hi all,

I need to increase Table : VendInvoiceInfoTable , Field : Num size 20 to 50 and create new EDT size string 50.

Now change EDT filed Num (extension table :VendInvoiceInfoTable ) I getting error like below

Error Path: [AxTableExtension/VendInvoiceInfoTable.Customizations/Fields/Num/ExtendedDataType]:The extended data type 'NewEDI' is not derived from 'Num'. Project_Customize (VAR) [Customizations] K:\AosService\PackagesLocalDirectory\Customizations\Customizations\AxTableExtension\VendInvoiceInfoTable.Customizations.xml

I'm not sure, I can add new EDT standard filed or not ?

Any suggestions to resolve.

Thanks your advance.

Hi, Instead of adding new EDT, you can increase the string size of EDT via EDT extension. You can only modify the value if the EDT does not extend from another EDT.

    Hi Wathanavipa,

I am not sure what the error is about, but my suggestion will be instead of creating new EDT - You can use standard String50 EDT - You can set the label and help text for the field in the table field properties.

    Thanks,

    Girish S.

I think changing the size of the standard EDT will affect all the places where it is used. I think that is not recommended.

    Thanks,

Yes, correct the changing the size that impact all the places. I want it to happen only in the table. I think create new EDT and changing the extended data type at filed in table but I have found a problem for filed standard.

    - Create new EDT and set size 50

    - Go to table extension , Go to filed standard and changing "Extended data type" but I getting error.

I notice the expand "Extended data type" , I could not find the new EDT but show all the specific extend EDT "Num"

Are you saying that Extended data type lookup not showing your custom created EDT under table field properties?

Can you try using string50 standard EDT and see if the same error throws?

    Thanks,

    Girish S.

    Thanks all for your advice.

My solution is extension base EDT and increase size only , which will affect the all places.
