Teams Webinar Registration Link - Issues

Has anyone use the marketing app to register people for a teams webinar?  We created a webinar and an email with a button to register - test sends went perfect.  We then sent our email and the app is changing the link so everyone get a broken link. We want to use the webinar form so that they get the automatic .ics file.  We also tried changing the link to a bitly link and that still did not work.

I have the same question (0)

    Hi,

If you’d like to send a marketing email with a button which contains the calendar of a certain event, it is necessary to ensure that the contacts (recipients) have registered the event already.

Otherwise, the button will not be shown in the email.

When I referenced the calendar file I meant the one that is sent via Teams when someone registers.  I do not want the marketing app to send that.  I wanted to use a universal Teams webinar link and have people register for the webinar with that link.  Then Teams would send an .ics file.  When I did a test email it worked but then in the actual send it breaks the registration link.

If you create a Teams Webinar from your Teams Calendar, create your form etc and save it. When you take the "copy registration link" url and then go to the Marketing App and create a Ivitation Email and CJ to send it. When you add a URL button and paste the copy registration link text, it seems fine. It event works when you make a test send.

However, when it gets sent via a CL in the system, that URL links gets changed and nobody can register. I think thats what happened in your case?
Its actually a BUG which i reported at least 3 weeks ago and for which Microsoft made a quick patch on our system to fix it.  The patch made that the copy registration url link doesnt get changed.

Then you recipients can simply register, on your Teams Reg Form, get a quick confirmed notification, followed by an Email with an add to calendar ics file included. Its actually much quicker to create Teams Webinar event this way, if you do not want to create Leads in your system.

You might need to create a support case with Microsoft.

This is great to know!  We will create a case with them to see if they can mimic what they did for you.  We do not want to create leads right now and the ics file was why we were so excited with the webinar feature.

Yes, the mangling of the URL is a known issue.  According to the partner channel the D365 product group is talking to the Teams product group.  Anybody's guess as to how soon whatever patch they sent to Chris' org makes it to full distribution.

I would have to say they must fix this globally asap. Since Teams Live Events has serious registration issues and has been unusable since the beginning of June, Teams Meetings and now Teams Webinars are the only platforms available to use.

Teams Webinars for the most seems a good replacement for Teams Live Events for which i do not believe Microsoft will or intend to fix. Teams Live Event broke when MS updated their Teams platforms at the end of May.

Lets hope the role the Teams Webinar URL patch out soon!  Otherwise just get a support case created. For us is was fixed in less than a day!

    /Chris
