Customer has been deleted

I have a coworker that has deleted a customer (not sure how) that has activity associated with them (quotes). The quotes are still there with the company name, however the customer itself is gone.  I cannot seem to get the customer back without adding them again and I don't want to do that unless it is a last resort since there is activity associated with them.  can someone please tell me what to do.  Thanks in advance.

this is quite a feat! i assume he has removed the customer directly from the database using sql management studio. and that's your chance. re-add the customer the same way with the same customer no.

other chance: restore the last backup.

Unfortunately back up is not an option and when I tried to put the customer back in with the same customer number it says I cannot enter the number manually.   I was able to make the change to the manual no. series and was able to enter the customer back in the system. Thank you for your help.

Agreed with Jonathan. If there is any entries linked with a master then Dynamics NAV does not allow to delete. Therefore this must have done using SQL Management studio. TO avoid future errors set up the user permission properly and also create a SQL group and set the access correctly and add all the users to the group.

I support the other members. If open quotes are in the system, users normally would not be able to delete customer card. What you can do is to ensure once more that the customers really had gone and not just invisible due to some filtering. If it is really gone, you can restore the customer card manually in the Customer table by creating manually a new record, either in SQL directly or by opening a table from Development Environment with needed user rights.

As suggested by other members you need to recreate the customer again.

It's not as hard to do that as you seem to think, Jonathan!

I have just tested in NAV 2013 R2 (in my UAT environment so don't worry!), putting a Quote (only) against a Customer and was able happily to then delete the Customer from within NAV.

If I try to delete a Customer with Ledger Entries in the fiscal year(s) that have not been closed then NAV will refuse however, picking one whose (only) Ledger Entries are in a year I've closed, again NAV has no objections whatsoever.
