Hi all,

Where generally all the attachments? Is there a folder that stored all the PDF/Excel..we attached in AP module? We want to find all the attachements we had for the past years.

Please help.

Thanks

    RE: Location for attachments

    Hello,

All attachments using the "Doc Attach" functionality is stored as SQL Blobs in a few CO tables.

There may be ways out there to pull these out en masse, but there is nothing like that within GP.

Instead you would have pull up the places you attached, and pull up the attachments.

If you are interested in more information on the tables, there is a good run-through in this series of posts:

    community.dynamics.com/.../attaching-documents-using-sql

If you are needing to remove old ones to save some space, you can use the Document Attachment File Utility (GP -> Tools -> Utilities -> Company -> Delete Attachment Files) to delete everything older than a specific date.

    Thanks!

Thank you so much for your answer, much appreciate it!

I was hoping to download/store all the attachments that we had for the past 2 years to local drive in case of system failure, rather than go into each entry to download the attachments since there are so many transactions in the year.

Is there any other way that we can retrieve all the attachment somehow?

    Hello,

There really isn't any way of exporting out of GP using GP functionality.

That said, there are some items from the community:

    blog.steveendow.com/.../bulk-export-dynamics-gp-document.html

Past this, it is important to note that any backup of the GP databases should also be including all of your attachments. Meaning if you have a system failure, if you can get GP back up and running with your data, it should also have your attachments.

    Thanks!
