Account Record Duplicate Detection Rule

I would love to hear from the community what rules you are using for Account duplication detection to prevent the same account records from being created multiple times in the system? We have not had any rules in place to prevent Account records from being created more than once which has resulted in a mess for us. Looking at best practices for what fields to use (name, address, website, etc.) to help prevent Account records from being duplicated going forward.

I have the same question (0)

    Hi,

    Please refer to this link.

Set up duplicate detection rules to keep your data clean - Power Platform | Microsoft Learn

Go to power platform admin center>choose environment>setting>data management>duplicate detection rules

Create the rule based on the field, for example, Account with same Account name.

    Remember to publish your rule.

Then you can choose ignore and save or merge them.

    Hi,

It is dependent on the business needs.

Like if you do not want duplicate accounts with same name then add rules on name will work.

As per my work experience, I used  duplicate detection rules on name and email field.

Thanks Eiken for the info! Question do you know if the rule for phone number is smart enough to recognize duplicate phone numbers regardless of the phone number format? Example: Phone number +1-216-333-555, 1216333555, +1(216)-333-5555, etc. or does it have to be an exact match including the formatting of the number?

    Hi,

I'm afraid that the duplicate detection of phone number has to be an exact match.

Maybe you can converting phone calls into a uniform format. Check the following link.
