ReportReport
Posted on by 105

When creating an electronic list report based on Vendor Transactions I am only getting one line of data in the output Excel file. I have set up the model as follows:

Root Reference

Record List

Record

VendTrans Fields

On the excel file I have created individual named cells for the fields underneath the headers then created a table for them.  On running the report I am only getting one line of data.

Does anyone have any ideas on where I am going wrong with this?

I have the same question (0)

    Hi Marcob45,

What is it exactly what you want to achieve? Why are you using Electronic Reporting? There is also an Excel connector which can retrieve and refresh data in an Excel sheet.

If you have a reason to use ER, then please indicate in more details how you created it and where/how you start the report.

    Hello Marcob45,

The most likely reason is that your mapping is made to the wrong element. Please double check that your vendtrans fields are mapped to the correct model and configuration elements. Otherwise, you will just see the first record the electronic report grabs.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Andre,

I did look at using the excel add-in functionality but I couldn't find the data I required as I have to join a few tables together to get the fields I need on  the report. ER has all the DB relations set up so I thought ER was the better option to be able to get all the data.

I created the root reference for the report and created a child with the reference "report" and then a child of that as a "report list" under that I put the field names.  I then mapped the model to the data source for VendTrans & VendJour tables.

Once that was completed I then created a root reference from the data model with a type of Excel. I then created the the excel file template with the a named cell for each field. Imported that and then mapped all those fields.

I then marked everything as completed and ran the report within ER but only got one line.

    Hi Ludwig,

I was actually putting this together referencing your blog post for AP Accrual over time(part 1), a very good blog post on electronic reporting and a showcase of the functionality!

So for this report I have the root reference, then a child of that as a "record list" then the child of the record list as a "record" with the fields I require underneath.

For the mapping I have mapped the VendTrans table to the "record list" child type. Then I mapped the individual fields under the record node to the fields from VendTrans and the related tables.

On the excel file import the file came through as type "report" and then the table details as "range with the individual fields as type cell.

I then mapped these to the related field for the data model.

Have I mapped the data model correctly with a "record list" type node and then a node under that as a "record" type node?

Which node should I bind the table to record or record list?

    Kind Regards

    Mark

    Hi Ludwig,

I checked my mapping and I hadn't mapped the list mode to the excel table! (facepalm!!). Thank you for pointing me in the right direction!!

    Kind Regards

    Mark
