I have a form below in Ax 2012
When the user clicks on the Add button to add the machine the below form(sub form) should filter automatically based on the part added
How can i filetr the grid?
Example
Can you show us the design of your form please? What does the button do? What exactly do you mean by "sub form"?
Is this in excel?
If happen on AX, maybe you need do customization for it.
If you have two tables and you always want the second table to be filtered, you can define a relationship between the two tables. In this case, since there will be a header/line relationship between the two tables/grids (depending on the join in the form datasource as well), you will only see the line records of the header you are on.
As you said in your question, if you want it to be filtered only when you press the add button, you should apply range to the second table. If you search "AddRange" on AOT/Forms, you will find many examples
