No Apps assigned to this security role Error

I have had two users in the last few days both run into the same issue, and it is stumping me!

Out of nowhere they get the error that "No apps are assigned to this security role." I've quadruple checked, and their role hasn't changed during this period. The role they have, gives them access to model driven apps, and all the entities in the app etc. Other users within the business unit or with the same role have not reported this error, but I can confirm it's to do with permission level. If I give the user "System customizer" or higher privileges, they can access our main UI app.

Both users had the same role, but were in different business units.

The first user came back from the weekend to find it fixed. (I had tried copying their role and applying that on a Friday, and Monday it was working. I tried the same for the second user, but they are still unable to access the app without expanded permissions. 

Any ideas of where I could look to fix my default role up? Or is this an honest to goodness bug?

    Hi,

     

    Could you please check the licenses of these two users? Whether they only have some Office 365 licenses? No CRM related licenses or Power Apps licenses?

     

    Because starting from Feb 1, team member license enforcement is rolled out on regions gradually. With this license enforcement, “Team Member” licenses users will not be able to access “Customer Service Hub”, “Sales Hub” or any custom apps. More detailed information: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/get-started/team-members-license

     

    Note: This enforcement actually not only for Team Member license, but also impact other non-paid/ FREE/Viral/Office licenses as well e.g. Flow Free License, Microsoft 365(Office 365) since they are not entitled to use Dataverse or Model driven apps.

     

    I verified in my OOB environment, if a user has proper security roles but only with “Microsoft 365 E3”, he will not be able to access apps, get the error “We can’t find any apps for your role. To check for recently-added apps, select Refresh.”

     

    And for your description - "If I give the user "System customizer" or higher privileges, they can access our main UI app". This is the expected behavior. They are the most powerful admin roles of an environment, can administer environments and settings, automatically has access to all records and all system and custom entities.

    Yes, when I first checked on their license, it was the old licensing. However, I gave them a license, and pushed them to re-sync through Active Directory. And it still wouldn't work for them. Does it often take hours for that to update? Maybe it's just a waiting game?

    Hi,

    Please kindly note that it can take CRM up to 24 hours to catch up after a license has been assigned to a User. You need to wait for some time to check again.
