Hi all,
I have customer who wants a certain text field to be filled in by default with the same value.
Would a workflow be the best method to fill in a field for existing AND newly created records?
Or would another method be more suitable?

Hello,
Based on exposed scenario, workflow would be the best option here due number of available triggers. A business rule could be an option too if you use something similar likes the following sample:
IF
Account Name contains data
THEN
Set Address 1 to "700 Michigan Ave"
