How to delete entries from various tables to clean up

Hello.  We created a new Company within the same Nav DB.  Because this company is very similar to our existing company and we don't want to lose any setup info, we copied from Existing Company into the new company.  Now, we want to clean up this new company so informations such as Items, Purchase Orders, Sales Orders, Posted Tables, etc.  Do you know of an easy way to delete these records?  I could write transact sql scripts but these will not run the triggers in the target tables as they are bound to the Nav objects, not SQL server tables.  Any ideas would be welcomed! :)

    Hi,

Please refer below link. There is a very good Data Deletion Tool by Olof Simren.

You can theoretically delete the data manually from posting tables, if you understand the structure of the system. But, note, that what Navigate will show you would not be enough - there are more tables that contain posted data. To learn what tables are filled, you can start with checking the database info to see the quantity of records in the tables.

However, it is recommended to use small cleaning tools that are available. Check e.g. this thread:

    Hello,

Without copying the entire company, why don't you just create a new company and then only import the setup data to your new company. In that way you will be in a safe zone. Deleting data from Dynamics NAV is not recommended since how data been stored in Dynamics NAV is bit complex and what you see from surface is not the exact picture behind.

    Hi,

Importing the setup data is the right approach instead of deletion.

Hi Mahesh.  This was my original approach.  But then there were more setup files that we may not know of yet and would require more research.  So plan B was to just copy from the source and then clean up the user data.  if the suggestions from other partners do not work, I will revert back to just importing the setup files and we would just need to go through the growing pains of figuring out what other tables we need to import.
